  1. Amazing, utterly amazing. So fresh, so vintage, so modern, so veirdly amazingly beautiful.

  2. great stuff! like it a lot, good idea ;)

  3. Brilliant. Love the idea and the execution.

  4. These are INCREDIBLE!!! I’m having a serious “I wish I would have thought of that” moment.

  5. These. Are. Great.

Where can I buy some prints?

  6. These are just wonderful. Excellent work!

  7. Some random douche says:

Hey Jantzie, try walking into a book store, yeah?

  8. one of these was used on a Born Ruffians album cover. guess which one!?

  9. Nice fresh approach. shows what can be done with an Exacto knife, skill and imagination. Thanks for posting.

  10. photoshopped.

  11. !deppohsotohp

  12. great stuff! thumbs up!! :)

  13. just too stupid… I just could not understand why someone need to do like something like that…

  14. there is something called art! heard of it?

  15. I think this is a wonderful idea. The only critique I would have is how you went about deciding on the focus plane. Maybe they need to be reshot?

  16. Outstanding! I totally love it. I even revisited some old pocketbooks that belonged to my dad last night which all have this type of cover art. What you did is awesome. Thanks.

  17. I’m glad I stumbled upon this website. Not only is the artwork amazing, but I did recognize a couple of these on the Born Ruffians cds and website. The sixth picture is found on the cover of their ep, “Little Garcon”, while the 31st picture is found on their lp “Red Yellow and Blue”. The 27th picture is also on their website. Awesome artwork. Awesome band.

  18. really cool. never thought about it. cool!

  19. Very cool concept and flawless execution! The lighting on these images is done perfectly, adding to the drama and depth. All in all, and outstanding collection.

  20. Great concept..
    Creativity has no limits..

  21. These are great. Made me want to go home and make one myself. I just missed the name of who made them

  22. Lili:
the artist’s name is Thomas Allen

  23. One of my best Stumbles ever! Simply Awesome.

  24. Thanks, liliac. I googled him and found more images at http://www.josephbellows.com/exhibitions/2006_3_thomas_allen/ Great stuff!

  25. Brilliant. I love these images. And the photography is terrific. I’m off to see what else Thomas Allen has done…

  26. Absolutely beautiful.

  27. NOT photoshopped, but quite real and three dimensional,
to say nothing of being wonderful, whimsical, and very creative!
I first saw Mr. Allen’s work at Foley Gallery ( http://www.foleygallery.com/)
    last year and loved it.

  28. I love these! So unique and well done!

  29. it,s really nice photos i, really like it ok and very impressed

Those are amazing! I second the person who requested prints.

  31. Great stuff. It reminds me of all the drug stores that use to display those detective mags that I was not allowed to see. Sordid stuff, for the fifties. It is also reminiscent of the old Warner Brothers Merry Melody cartoons that used book titles and book backgrounds to set a story line. As a professional illustrator, anything that heralds great illustration… illustration by America’s great pictorial storytellers that is today almost forgotten, is cherished by me and, obviously, Mr.Allen!

  32. abigail_adams says:

this is brilliant! even my creative mind is completly blown away! i think whoever did this should also try it on magazine covers, other books, ect…
    UTTERLY BRILLIANT!!

  33. This is groovy! Reminds me of the “Hardy Boys” books series with all their dramatic covers. I think the age of this illustration style has mostly died in the digital age, for better or worse.
    :-)

  38. Are You F—ing Kidding Me? You and the 40 year old virgin should get a room. And by “get a room” I mean you should get togther, take pictures of toys, and cuddle.

These are amazing! I love the lighting and the focus!
    Where can I get prints?

  40. Really nice collection, thank you!

  41. awesome. simply beautiful and inspired.

  42. I LOVE> this stuff! A pulp fan from way back… and this is a very creative way of bringing the old cover art to life. My hat is off to the artist!

  43. While this was somewhat interesting I found it mostly a waste of time. I’m not getting the point of the whole thing. I guess as long as someone likes them then your time was not completly wasted. What can you do with an eBook? :O)

  44. great stuff!

  45. really cool stuff man
    kip ;)

  46. most amazing art i have ever seen made with picture.
