  1. It’s a mud nest for it’s eggs (not a home). The Mud Dauber wasp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mud_dauber) will not live there but lay eggs in other insects it paralyzes and encases in the mud nest. When the eggs hatch the larvae feed on the host bodies until it develops in to a new wasp and emerge from the protective nest.
