  1. Very cool, but that’s a black widow, not a redback. They’re closely related (same genus/both widow spiders), but the redback has the red design on its back (hence the name), whereas the black widow has the hourglass on the bottom of its abdomen. The black widow is the name usually used for the North American species. The redback is from Australia.

    just a little science lesson.

  2. That snake seems to have a rip in its belly on the side near the bottom of the picture. I suspect a cat or dog killed it.
